Billy Graham Dies at 99

With sadness of heart and yet gratitude and absolute surrender to the perfect will of God, we received and hereby announce the passing unto eternal glory of Evangelist William Franklin Graham Jr. KBE (November 7, 1918 – February 21, 2018) popularly known as Billy Graham. It is reported that Billy Graham died on Wednesday 21st of February 2018. The news reports that Billy Graham died on the morning of Wednesday around 8am in absolute quietness and without struggling between life and death. This is to confirm the words of the Psalmist in Psalm.37:37 which says, “Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace”. His death took place about 3 months after his 99th birthday. The great American preacher really enjoyed longevity (long life), though few years to the end of his life, he suffered from hydrocephalus which led to the diminish in his hearing and seeing.

Billy Graham was a spiritual father and counselor to many of the American presidents. He was not just the great American preacher, but he was an evangelist to the world as recorded by Robert Liardon in his book God’s General – The revivalists. In 1950, Graham founded the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) with its headquarters in Minneapolis. The association relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1999. In April 2013, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association started “My Hope With Billy Graham”, the largest outreach in its history, encouraging church members to spread the gospel in small group meetings after showing a video message by Graham.

Billy Graham preached for more than 60 years till he handed his ministry over his son Franklin Graham. Billy Graham got married to Ruth Bell in 1943 who later died in 2007 with their marriage lasting for about 64 years. The marriage is blessed with 5 children which are; Virginia Leftwich Graham (an inspirational speaker and author), Anne Graham Lotz, (runs AnGeL ministries); Ruth Graham, (founder and president of Ruth Graham & Friends, leads conferences throughout the U.S. and Canada), Franklin Graham, (serves as president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and as president and CEO of international relief organization, Samaritan’s Purse) and Nelson Edman Graham, (a pastor who runs East Gates Ministries International, which distributes Christian literature in China).

On 7th of November 2015, Billy Graham preached his last message titled ‘My hope America’ to mark his 97th birthday. At the point of preaching this sermon, he was already on wheelchair as a result of old age and physical weakness.
Billy Graham will be buried on Friday 2nd March 2018 at 12 noon in a canvas tent set up near The Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, North Carolina. He is to be buried beside the grave of his wife Ruth Bell. The burial of late Evangelist Billy Graham will be strictly on invitation as the family plans to give out only 2300 invitation with the presence of all the living American Presidents and wives.

Few weeks age, Franklin Graham reported that his father was fine and doing well in an interview with Fox News, but to God be the glory that His Will has prevailed. At this point, the team of Christianityupdate joins the Graham family to mourn the demise of our seasoned preached. Billy Graham remains the greatest preacher and Evangelist of the 20th century. RIP Billy Graham

JUST AS I AM
1) Just as I am, without one plea,
But that Thy blood was shed for me,
And that Thou bid’st me come to Thee,
O Lamb of God, I come! I come!

2) Just as I am, and waiting not
To rid my soul of one dark blot;
To Thee whose blood can cleanse each spot,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

3) Just as I am, though tossed about
With many a conflict, many a doubt;
Fightings within, and fears without,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

4) Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind;
Sight, riches, healing of the mind;
Yes, all I need, in Thee to find,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

5) Just as I am, Thou wilt receive,
Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;
Because Thy promise I believe,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

6) Just as I am, Thy love unknown
Has broken every barrier down;
Now, to be Thine, yea, Thine alone,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!
